In details, in the Chemistry Facility it is possible to conduct solid-state reactions and organic, polymeric, colloidal, hydro- or solvo-thermal synthesis strategies.
The laboratory features 17 fume hoods, each equipped with one or two schlenk lines connected to air, argon and nitrogen lines. The chemicals and synthetic products can be handled and processed under inert atmosphere thanks to the presence of 3 nitrogen filled gloveboxes.
The Chemistry Facility includes also of several characterization tools including: three spectrophotometers and two spectrofluorimeters to measure the absorption and the photoluminescence (and quantum yield) of samples (in both liquid or solid form) in the ultra violet-visible-near infrared range; inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) instruments for the elemental analysis of samples; a thermogravimetic analyzer; a dynamic light scattering setup for the determination of the solvodynamic radius of nanoparticles. The presence of a cell culture room inside the Chemistry Facility allows for the study of the nanoparticles-cells interactions.
The technicians of the Chemistry Facility actively support the users and provide them with both safety and instrumental trainings.
